Recommendation for an engineer to view apartment in Cork?

    Hi All

    Just looking for the above to complete a structural survey . A competent engineer who won’t break the bank :)

    It's fairly unusual to do a structural survey on an apartment as any issues arising and for which you could have (part) responsibility could be anywhere in the block. A valuation survey would be more common. DOn't know any by the way.

    Would it be a structural engineer that would carry out the valuation survey?

    Try to find out more about the apartment, mainly the floors and walls.

    Is there anyone above you, or to the right/left/in front/behind you?

    Then try and find out how thick the floors and walls are between you and the next person. Below you; not too much to worry, above, and they may have wooden floorboards. If they walk about, you'll know about it.

    Is there concrete between you and the person above/below/next to you? Concrete = less sound.

    You'll be in there for some time, so yeah, look into getting someone to get you info on it, but not really sure what profession, sorry :(
