8gb is E140 in HMV,it's E110 ex postage on Amazon, would it be safe to buy from them? if I've any problems later,ie it stops working while still in warranty, would Amazon help me or could I go to any Apple store?

Is it sold by Amazon, i.e. not a marketplace seller? If so it should be fine. Apple's warranty will cover it. However, there are no Apple Stores in Ireland, so you would need to take to an authorised service provider or post it to Apple in the case of there being a problem.

It is an actual seller,if something did go wrong I'm not sure....

Is there any alternatives to the Ipod?the 8gb is a hell of a lot at E140,cheapest price, the 2gb is too small.
