Hi, Im 18 and currently live at home with my parents. I finished school last summer and never went to college. I started getting jobseekers allowance in November when I turned 18. When assessed i found out that I would get 100 euro a week. I was looking in to moving out and was just wondering if I did so would I get more than this. I cant seem to find out about this anywhere so any help would be much appreciated.

The maximum Jobseekers Allowance payment for 18 to 21 year olds is €100, then it's €144 from 22 until they turn 25 after which it is the full amount of €188.00. It is means tested. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_allowance.html

So, you would not receive any more than you are getting now even if you moved out of home. To receive Rent Supplement, you have to be renting privately for 6 months and to have been able to afford the rent when the tenancy started and have suffered a reduction to your income since then. Alternatively, you can qualify if your local authority approves you as being in need of social housing.

It might be good to go to the Citizens Information office and ask about the options open to you, including education options. If you could find a JobBridge internship http://www.jobbridge.ie/ which you could do locally, you would have an extra €50 per week.
