Looking to buy a nice prime for general shooting / low light and would be a bonus if it could shoot nice video.
Had my eyes on the canon 50mm f.14 and the sigma 50mm f1.4. Also the Canon 35mm f1.4 and Sigma 30mm f1.4.
Currently using the Canon 50mm f1.8 and a sigma 18-250mm OS lens but looking to up my prime.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sigma 30mm f1.4 is really nice, should be perfect for video too.

I had a 60D and both the sigma 50 1.4 and canon 1.4. Id stay with sigma for the new design on the 50's. But the Sigma 30mm 1.4 is really special on the cropped sensor because your looking at a focal length much closer to 50mm on a full frame! :)

Got this one a couple of days ago for my 60D. Not the sharpest lens in the world wide open, but then again not everything can be as awesome as the 50mm 1.8 at the lower end of lens prices. It's a really nice lens though. Fair bit of chromatic aberration at 1.4, but it's nearly gone by 1.8. Unless you're zooming in to 100% you'll likely not notice this, and if will definitely not be noticeable on video.

30mm on a crop sensor is near the field of view of the human eye. I found 50mm to be pretty hard to use in a lot of the situations I expected to use it in, because it was too tight. It should be the just about right for general use (:

I'd probably be looking mainly at the Canon 35mm f1.4 if I was using a standard dSLR with a cropped sensor. If I was using a full-frame camera, I'd probably go with the 50mm f1.4 from Canon.

id have to agree with Borderfox. :) The sigma 30mm 1.4 is my favourite lens. its sharp as hell, good build, focuses pretty good and for 300-ish odd euro its brilliant
