ECCE SCHEME- FREE PRESCHOOL YEAR

    Hello there I am wondering if anyone can clarify a few things for me about the free preschool year.
    My daughter was born in Dec 2009. So she is not eligible for the scheme until March 2013.(when she will be 3 years and 3 months.)
    Should I be starting her in school in Sept 2014( she would be 4 years and 9 months old)? and if that is the case does it work that she would be in the free preschool from March 2013 to March 2014?? if you know what i mean?
    Or do you start them in the preschool scheme from September to september?
    Would love if someone could explain how it works to me.

    It normally works Sept to Sept. I've heard a few only put them in for 6 months and then send them off to school.

    My guy was a Dec baby and started preschool Sept 2010 born Dec 2006. Started main stream school Sept 2011

    She should start Sept 2013 to June 2014 and then start main stream in Sept 2014

    it's the age the child is on Sept 1st that counts.
    Children with December birthdays start their free year the September they are 3 years old and get a full year free of charge

    My son was born April 2009. He will get the free year at 4 years 4 months and start school at 5 years 4 months. It's the sept between 3 years and 3 months and 4 years and 4 months. Technically I could pick the year before for the free year but then it would be back to full fees for the year before school so I chose that instead.
