My HTC Desire Z needs to be repaired and I'm not sure how to go about it...

Unfortunately HTC Desire Z had a brief encounter with the floor a few weeks ago . When I went to turn on my phone my screen wasn't working. The screen didn't crack and there is no visible cosmetic damage. The touch screen facility works....I inputted my password even though I could see the numbers and my phone made start up noise and I was even able to receive a call....however I can't see a thing...the screen is completely blank. To me it sounds like a loose connection.

So I went into a Meteor store in Cork fully accepting that the warranty is up and willing to pay to get it fixed. The girl in the store said that they could send it to HTC but they could not tell me a price until it was fixed and I would have to pay whatever price that was. So I asked if she had any estimation i.e. would the price be higher than the retail value etc etc and she couldn't answer and wouldn't contact HTC on my behalf. She suggested I drop it into one of those independent phone shops but I am reluctant to do this.

    Anyone have any suggestions/similar problems/etc?

Sound like the screen is gone, it's out of warranty so you might as well get the nearest repair shop to you to fix it rather than pay a premium and wait 3/4 weeks for HTC to fix it.
The girl in the store was just making stuff up, that's not the way out of warranty repairs work.

Cheers. Yeah she sounded a bit dim tbh. Era...might take a spin out to the place in Tramore Road Cork....they're usually pretty good
