    Click Start,
    Right click My computer,
    Click Manage,
    Click device manager,
    Click DVD/CD ROM Drives, click your drive (NEC),
    Click driver,
    Click update driver--->follow instructions
    You can roll back driver if it doesn't work*

    If that doesn't work install imgburn
    Open Program
    Click write image file to disc
    Click Tools (Along the top)
    Click Drive
    Click Check for Firmware updates
    FLASH FIRMWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK

    *You could also try uninstalling the driver (same menu where you update it) turn off computer and on restarting the computer should reinstall it itself. That use to be the easy fix, I'm not sure if it still works though.

    Set up a system restore point before you do it or make a copy of the driver. It tells you where it is in "Driver Details" in the same menu where you update it. You can copy and paste it into a new folder.
