What to do with old iMac?

    Hi all,

I have an old 24" iMac (mid 2007) that I've had to replace as it was cutting out when displaying graphics. I'm delighted with my new machine (27" i5 model). I'm wondering what to do with my old machine. Is this worth anything should I choose to sell it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Joe.

What do you mean it's cutting out? As in the display shuts off or mac turns off completely.

Yes, the display turns off & the machine goes to sleep.

Macs have a good resale value. Get it fixed and sell it. Alternatively sell as is for spare parts etc.

Shove it away in a cupboard. Link to it wirelessly and use Chronosync to put your backups on its hard drive, automatically.

That's a great idea but am already sorted for wireless backups.

I think what I would like to do is to see if it can be repaired and if so, and it's not too expensive, fix it and then donate it to a charity. My preference would be Pieta House.

I'm wondering if there are any boardies that would be able to help me with this that would donate their time for free?
