Where to get sony vaio Win 7 OEM install disc?

Hi Guys,

I've need to install Windows on my laptop again for a project (had been on Ubuntu).

I didn't make an original backup the when it was on it originally, so I don't have any way to install.

What i'm looking for is Home Premium 64Bit. I have a 32 Bit disc which I could use in a pinch but i'd like 64 bit.

Whats the best way to get a disc? I called Peats (bought there) and they only place is Sony and they charge 100-200 per disc? That sounds stupid as I already have a licence.

Is it legal for me to use any old install disc that matches the sticker on my laptop. Is it legal for me to request a copy of an install disc here?

You can download the windows 7 .iso here which you can burn to a DVD and install Windows. Activate it with the serial # underneath the laptop

I have a similar issue only I'm looking for an official download for Windows Vista Home Basic for Dell OEM. Will the same process work?

I can't find home basic links but I've heard the ultimate edition includes it, so will it be ok to just download that and enter the serial?

Afaik Home Basic cannot be baught online from Microsoft, so there is no .iso out there that I'm aware of unfortunately. Your best bet is to contact Dell and request disks, or maybe even better get a license for Home Premium. You can get the OEM ones for <100 (Dell will likely charge €35-€40 "including postage and packaging" for restore media)
