having a few problems, made up some childrens cds for the car, used nero and finalized disc with no multi session (i think) but they wont play in the standard c5 radio. Now ive some older cds burnt and they play fine (cheap brand as well). What am i doing wrong? I think the discs im using at the moment are memorex 52x cdr. Sorry if ive posted in wrong forum.

Try burning with WMP see if that works. Make sure its 'Audio Cd' and not 'Data Cd' in the drop down options (downwards facing arrow on the top right corner) as factory radios don't like data discs ;)

ill try again later. Im sure i selected audio cd, but i could have made a mistake. I might nip by the 2e shop and buy some real cheap discs to mess with. The player will play cdr as ive some done already. Perhaps i could try my other laptop to burn as well, just a thought.

MAke sure they are not MP3 cds. You should only be able to fit 10-20 songs per cd, otherwise it is an MP3 cd, which needs a special player

tried WMP and still the same, trying a different brand CDR now.

Are you burning to cdrW ?? The player might not recognise them
    also
What speed are you burning at?
Keep it 16x or under. I would never burn at anything over 16x

I've found before that some Sony systems won't recognise burnt discs. Probably just coincidence that Sony have a record label too.

Make sure it is converting the mp3s to music cd format. Also burn the disc at the slowest possible speed. The car's cd player may not be able to read the content of the disc at the speed it was burnt onto the disc.

I have Nero too and never had a single disc that wouldn't play on any CD player.
Never had the need to use any other program and haven't seen a better one out there.
First, the discs need to be CD-R, the "-" is important, other discs, like CD+R and especially RW, might not get recognised.
Also, best buy Verbatims, can't beat them. Chaep shoite is exactly that and mightn't work no matter what.
Open Nero, select CD as type of disc, select Audio CD and press "new"
On mine I get an explorer pane, navigate to the folder containing your audio files and drag them to your track list.
It shouldn't matter if you're dragging different type files, Nero should convert them into the right type. (WAV files, 44.1 khz, 16 bit stereo)
If Nero can't convert the file type, it will tell you.
    Select "Disc at once" also.
This way it should work no problem.
I'm using Nero Burning Rom 8, not the latest, but these pointers should apply to nearly all versions. I'm also using Nero Express (ancient), and it's pretty much the same.

Thanks guys, im wondering if its actually a drive problem. I tried a cd that was burned a few months ago on my other Acer laptop and that works fine, now its a imitation brand cdr which i dont have any left to use.

What year is the C5? The current model will support MP3 CDs (some 2008 models don't). If the radio supports Bluetooth you can stream music from your iPhone, etc.

The current C5 (from 2008) will have stereo RCA connections in the glovebox so you can directly connect your MP3 player rather than burn CDs.

I had some issues with my PC not reading discs and some burnt discs not working, neither in the PC or the laptop.
Took the drive out, opened it and it was full of crud and dust.
Gave it a good blow out, cleaned the laser with a Q tip and some IPA and she's as good as new.

+1 on the mp3 player, I fitted an AUX connector to my radio and stuck an 8 gig card in my phone, which is now working as my mp3 player.
I just connect the phone to the PC, it shows up as a drive and I drag and drop my mp3's onto it. And have a good giggle at all those poor sods with i-pods and the rigmarole they have to go through to get music on it.
I know, I have an ipod nano gathering dust in a drawer, GF bought it, it's not even fit to be a paper weight.

I've found that the burner used has an effect. Had to upgrade my burner to get things playing on some Sony equipment.

IPA is iso propyl alcohol, super stuff :-)

Aux in is only alright, I'd prefer to use other options if available.

right, update, seems it the burner in the laptop downstairs. Tried burning the same Imitation CD's using Nero 7 on an Acer laptop in the bedroom and they play fine. very very strange. Yet the CD's burnt in the downstairs laptop play fine in CD players in the house!!

I must look into the AUX input, as far as i know you have to get it activated in a Citroen/Peugeot dealer. There is a Clarion 6 cd changer under the drivers seat, doesn't seem to work (Wont eject magazine), when i get some time ill investigate it.

Certain burners are more accurate than other.

They are referred to as 1, 2 and 3 sheep burners in internet lingo.

The clarion Stereos (as fitted to most citroen's ) can get get very fussy about what CD's they will play.
Sometimes they wont/can't read original CD's.
If you keep inserting the disc they will sometimes play it fine, until you turn off the ignition and next day they refuse to recognise the CD that was fine the day before.......
