Insurance renewal a bit expensive.

So I got my renewal notice. €265 fully comp, breakdown cover, ncb protection, and agreed value of 5k on car. Its a 1979 1.1 mk1 golf, nothing special at all. That's with axa.

Was hoping it would come in at around €200. Have policies gone up?

By the way, does anyone have a local number for the Wolfetone st branch of axa, cant call the 1890 number from outside the country.

    Thanks :)

Shop around. That does sound pricey.

First up, I def agree with above poster, ring around get more quotes and see what you can get. If its cheaper then what your crowd are offering play them off against eachother as if you can get your insurer to match it then it'll save you the hassle of having to change insurer.

My renewal quote was up on what I had paid the year before. After shopping around for other quotes this was still the best I was going to get. Anyway I rang them and asked how with another years claim free driving, another year on to my already full no claims bonus, a decrease in the value of my car now a year older and the fact I had now been with them a year longer how had my policy actually gone up. The lad was sound agreed and he knocked about 60€ off it straight away. They have a bit to play with just ring and give it a whirl, tell him you'll take your business elsewhere if they cant help you out. Whats the worst that can happen.

Found Axa expensive myself but for the extras you are getting then perhaps it's not. Have third party only myself buy costs around 130 so I suppose if you want the add ons , you gotta pay for them.:p

    Thanks everyone.

I'll ring around next week to see what I can get. The axa policy is very good, lots of perks and the agreed value on the car is peace of mind.
