Aren't those things the same as the felicia? Which would be the same as a Polo?

Not the same as a polo. The were a newer version of the old favorit. Your thinking of the fabia, right?

There was two VW engines in them. The 1.6 petrol and the 1.9 diesel. If its either of them, there is a good chance of picking up a starter from anywhere in the VAG group of cars. If its the 1.3, a skoda only engine, well your stuck looking at scrapped felicias then, of which I would imagine there isn't many of them.

I'm almost certain the Fabia came about in 00 and the pickup was just a flat bed felicia.

SDI Op? Should be plenty in a few scrap yards.

Sorry wasn't clear enough back there. They are indeed based on the felicia, which in itself is a reworked Skoda Favourit. They are however not based on the polo or any VW car.

However, the 1.9D is engine found in many Ventos, Golfs, T4 vans and other VAG group cars. Shouldn't have a problem finding a starter for one of them

EDIT: I don't think they use the SDI engine. They used the old 1.9 indirect injection diesel lump, at least the older ones did
