Does a Day/night CCTV camera work better with "white light" at night

If you illuminate the surveillance area with white tube lighting will the Camera pick up a better image than plain yellow filament bulb lighting?

Typically you use infra-red lighting, which is invisible to humans.
Assuming your camera can see infra-red, ie. doesn't have an IR filter built into the lens.

The image will look black & white with IR lighting at nighttime, but colour in the daytime.

If you want a full colour photo at nighttime, you really have to light up the area with floodlights.
