The D series are only a few months old, doubt their will be anything new for a while. I would guess the UE and UD are for different countries or something. I have the ue40c7000, some great tv. I bought mine from direct tv's I think it was its an english site. Worked out about €350 cheaper than buying in my local store got the fast delivery aswell.

Why? The OPs said nothing about what platform he intends to use the television with. If he's looking for a 3D TV he almost certainly won't be using it with Saorview, since the only platform currently offering a 3D TV service in the Irish market is Sky.

Less of the back-seat moderation please.

Here's what I got from somewhere on the web re. the Samsung TV model numbering scheme.
    ****************************************
The Samsung TV model can be broken down like so:
    <TYPE><REGION><SIZE><YEAR><SERIES><VARIANT>[misc details]
    Type:
    L LCD
    P Plasma
    U LED

    Region:
    A Australia
    E Europe
    N North America

    Year:
    A 2008
    B 2009
    etc...

An example, the UN55B8500 is an 8 series (500 variant) 55" LED TV in North America from 2009.
    ****************************************
this info was posted in another thread helped explain alot as well, direct tvs is a good site thanks for linking!

You don't need Sky for 3D content
