Guys I bought an old 911 and I need to replace the tyres on the rear - I have Eagle F1's on the front but some crappy Chinese ones on the back which need replacing. Being rear engines and real wheel drive, these cars are known for being dangerous in the wet. I need two new tyres (225/50/16) but I need to pick some good ones. I'm told the Uniroyal Rainsport 2's are excellent - does anyone have any experience of these - or know any that might be better?

I have Uniroyal rainsport 2's on the back of my 200sx and find them very good in the wet. They are a soft tyre though so wear fairl quickly

I had Uniroyal Rain Expert once. Noisy tyre but grip on wet was amazing. Performed well on snow too.

Goodyear F1s in my experience are immense in the wet.

Michelin PS3s are said to be the business in the wet.

And the side walls are very soft.

    Rainsport 2's. Hancook EVO/Ventus 12's. Potenza RE070. Pirelli Pzero I or W.

Found uniroyal good in the wet but the sidewalls were weak.

I know someone with a celica gt4 that swears by good brand winter tyres for the wet, says they cut through standing water better than most rain tyres he has tried.

Camskill can be a good place to get tyres but check the price for the tyres you are looking at, they are not always the cheapest. you could also try http://www.eiretyres.com/

I currently have Uniroyal Rainsport 2 on mine. Excellent wet weather performance and very reasonably priced. That said I'm a relatively low milage driver so I'm not at all worried about wear issues.

I put Pirelli P Zeros (with the 'N' mark - ie specifically for Porsche) on mine, I found them very good. From memory they had different patterns front and rear.

There are few different p zeros, I had the Rossi ones and they were terrifying in the wet.

Uniroyal Rainexpert here, can't fault them.
I keep them fairly well pumped (36PSI) as they can be a little soft under 30PSI.

That's it. The I & W are a bit more sport/performance focused. Maybe a bit overkill TBH for the OP but was just a suggestion. I would class "W" more as a constant wet tyre/wet track day tyre.

Considering where we live and the climate, that's not such a bad thing tbh, in fact that just about perfectly describes Ireland. Constant wet.

I'd have them myself if I had a RWD car with a bit of power. Unless it was an old classic I only take out every now and then.
