    Hi
Has anyone here ever bought parts off ebay (like link below) instead the main dealer, or do you always buy off main dealer or independant garage.
Just wondering do you think its crazy to get this part from ebay, maybe no come back as with garage but theres a huge difference in price was quoted 200 euro for the part below.

    Thanks

Yup, eBay is good for parts.

A new rear hub for my Volvo in Germany was 180 euros, from Volvo it was 300 euros from eBay (Uk Company) it was 190 for two of them.

Got quoted 240 euro for part and fitting - main dealer.
If i picked that part up off ebay my local independant would fit it for 20-30 euro at the most. Was told it only takes 10 minutes or so to fit.

I have done it with no problems. As said above just don't get stung with the postage costs. There are car dealers using ebay too. They have often been cheaper than the ones here.

Just remember you're not buying from eBay, you're buying from a particular seller. Always do your homework on the seller and you should be fine.

Would the likes of that part be as reliable as a bigger name branded name.
Just trying to keep my costs down, would mean a big saving which i could use for fun stuff like food and bills :pac:

    Thanks for the replies lads

Ya I always do my homework on a seller. Wont buy unless their record is flawless or almost

    Use eBay all the time,

I always go on it on a weekday night, Into Ford parts section.. Hit ending soonest and work away with serious bargains. For couriers I use interparcel.com

I usually go with what others have suggested and tried and tested. I don't buy spurious parts.

I've bought a ton of stuff for my cars on ebay, no hassles yet.
Mind the shipping cost though, as said above.

Bought loads off ebay and UK specialists, just be careful what you are buying is decent quality if it moves or is safety related. I'd never go near a dealer.

Mind what seller you get them from and it should be fine.

    Yes, this.

@OP: Its a bugbear of mine when people talk about buying parts "from ebay" and if "ebay are good for parts". You do not buy anything from ebay, anymore than you buy parts from a shopping centre. You buy parts from a seller in the centre/ebay, whose reliability and business ethics are entirely their own.

PS: As a buyer on eBay you would have loads of comeback in the event of a problem.

I know all about that one - although I've never been caught out as such. You can buy absolutely anything you want for American stuff online at very reasonable rates but if what you're buying is any way heavy once you go to checkout it can double the price.

Relax! Of course I know ebay is only a platform for seller's to sell their goods. You are correct for picking me up on it though :pac:
