Diesel Colour

I was in a well known petrol station chain filling a gallon can with diesel because of a dodgy gauge so if I ran out I wouldent be stranded.
Anyway I noticed the diesel was a greenish colour like lime juice.
I was under the impression diesel for cars and trucks was ment to be clear and agri diesel was green???????????
I was at the standard pump where all the cars pull up, one hose for petrol and one for diesel, I wouldent have really noticed before because the nozzle would be in the neck of the tank.
Can anyone clarify if this is supposed to be like that of if I just got ripped off?

    It'll be fine.

Non coloured diesel isn't always colourless.

Aye white diesel has a tinge of green when filling it.

I think the only colour I have never seen diesel is white . . . .

There really would be no doubt in your mind if you have filled with green diesel. Its a strong green whereas white diesel might have a slight tint of green but nothing too noticeable

It's a special flavour for St. Patrick's week. The Americans dye the beer green, we dye the diesel ;)

Yeah don't worry if it has a tinge of green , but wherever you're getting it , make sure you get a receipt. Better still buy it from a reputable source and not where it's being sold at cut prices !:p

Check with them if it contains a % of biodiesel. Not sure if I can name the chain, but one reputable source which uses a small about of biodiesel is green in colour.

Well since there are no pics on google, I'll give a sneak pic of research I am currently carrying out (gathering samples of fuel from different stations)

    Exhibit:

Agri diesel on the left, normal diesel on the right. I'll leave people to decipher what the shíte in the middle is that nearly destroyed our van :mad::mad:

You can see op there is a huge difference in agri stuff and road diesel. As previously mentioned diesel has a greenish tinge anyway. Unless it was anything like the diesel on the left I wouldn't worry :)
