Pre Race meals (dinner and breakfast)

    Hi,

Are there any major do and don'ts in relation to eating the night before and morning of a race?

I am doing the half Connemarathon which doesn't kick of til noon so should have plenty of time to digest (at least 3 hours).

I plan to have muesli/weetabix/banana mix and scrambeled eggs x 4 for breakfast.

Should the meal the night before be much bigger in portion to an average dinner. I'm guessing some kind of pasta would be best. Or would it?

All advice/tips appreciated (or even just an example of what you yourself have)

    DON'T do anything different
DO eat what you usually eat the evening before/the morning of a long run.

it sounds like you are planning to stuff yourself on the morning of the race. If that's not your normal breakfast, you could find yourself feeling weighed down on your run, needing to go to the toilet, etc Same with a big meal the evening before.

    I agree with Ray.
Stick with whatever you usually do before a long run.

If you are not used to a big dose of protein before a race, your digestion will not thank you.

I agree with the advice above. I'd also suggest avoiding any spicy food or anything too "exotic" in the day or two before a race. Including any sort of junk food.
