    Hi All,

Can anyone shed any light as to what the above race meeting is like?

We're a group of 10 girls looking for a good day out and while initially the Derby Day on the Curragh was on the cards (no pun intended!!), it does not suit everyone due to holidays etc so we are now thinking of going to this race meeting and getting dolled up and having a flutter or two on the horses!

Just want to know is this a popular race meeting? I realise the sunday is ladies day, but is saturday therefore emplty or will there still be a bit of craic at it?

Would appreciate any comments on this.
    Many thanks

Be gone with your flat racing nonsense as the greatest show on earth approaches

    Come back next week :D

You wouldn't walk into Anfield and ask for info on Everton would you

That's not really helpful Richie she's trying to organise a girl's day out.

Friday09 it'd be a busy day, that's one of the biggest races of the season, there'll be loads of people there

Thanks for replying folks. I'm really trying to establish if it's a good race meeting to go to and will we have the craic. A lot of the women are so busy and we only meet up twice a year so want to make sure we'll be guaranteed a good day and a good atmosphere - are we asking for too much at this do you think??

There'll still be a lot of fun at it (not as busy as the Sunday, though).

You could think about booking a table and doing the whole lunch thing at it rather than just going as a regular punter. It is a lot more expensive, but you'd be able to sit at the table all day and have food served to you - and there should be a tote nearby where you could place your bets (some places actually have ppl to come around to the table to take your bets)...

Have a look at the website re the hospitality options available to you: http://www.curragh.ie/hospitality-dining/

Been to this about 7 or 8 years in a row (but not the last one) and I have to say it's a good days racing with a decent sized crowd (well it was when I was there) but the good thing is it's not overly packed like Derby Day so easy to get around and get a drink!

Not sure where ye are coming from but if getting a train be warned it doesn't stop at the track but at Kildare. The course put on free shuttle buses from Kildare Station to the track but I'd advise ye to get an earlyish train to avoid queueing for one of those buses while trying to make the first race!

If the weather is good the Curragh is a great place to be and even if it piddles down there are plenty of bars to keep covered up in!

    Hope this helps :)

No - I used to love the session on Guineas day at the Curragh, was one of the highlights of the racing year for me. Go for it!!!
