    Hello

So just on the petrol and diesel in Ireland
I know Ireland in the last few years has just done dissel mad. Lately the petrol and diesel prices are almost the same, in some cases petrol is cheaper.
Then on Monday in the paper the government say that the car tax system will change and probably not be based on emisssions

What im looking for is an educated forecast, to for example, this day 4 years from now

    1. Will we have even more diesel cars on the road than now and hardly any petrols ?

    2. Which fuel will be the most expensive in 4 years ?

Whatever the system - I'd say they're out to get the 520d!

If they base it on CC then the 520d will come under 2.0l and cars like the Honda and Mazda diesels will be pariahs at 2.2:eek:! I'd be surprised if they dropped emissions entirely. They might link it to car class/dimensions?

Impossible to forecast until we know more - I think the viability of petrol cars will probably improve - it can't be worse than under the current system.

I think you are better of buying a bicycle OP. You must have had about 20 threads here nearly all asking the same question. I reckon if you buy whatever car and it dont work out it will kill you with stress....

Nobody here on this Planet can tell you what fuel prices will be in 4 years time. We might all be dead...
