External HD not showing up in Windows Explorer?

My GF has a 2TB WD external USB drive for a less then a year and a few days ago it started slowing down (1 hour to transfer 2GB). Today it isn't recognised at all in Windows Explorer, although it's visible in Device Manager. It's externally powered and is about 3/4 full of videos. Windows recognises it connecting and disconnecting, but that's about it. It's not visible in Safe Mode either (running Win 7)

Any ideas on how to get it running again? Windows recognises it connecting and disconnecting, but that's about it. It's not visible in Safe Mode either.

When you plug it in and it starts to spin, is there a clicking noise?

    Nope, no clicking.

Could be the power supply on it is failing. When you plug it in, does the drive spin-up? Does it sound the same spinning up as it used to (spinning slower)?

I assume you've tried it in a different USB port / on a different PC?
