    Hi guys, just wondering if any of you could help me compare a couple of processors:

    - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (of a desktop I've just sold)
    - Intel Core i7 2670QM (of a laptop I'm thinking of getting)

    Oh btw, I did try AnandTech but couldn't find the relevant i7 processor.

    The i7 is roughly equivalent to the i5-2400S (Downclocked i5-2400) I believe. Its probably about 15% faster than the C2Q or thereabouts.

    The exact specs given on saveonlaptops.co.uk are:

    Processor Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM Quad Core (2.2 GHz, Intel Sandy Bridge Architecture, 6 MB L3 cache, Features Intel Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz)

    So it's a good bit faster than the Q6600?

    I ran the benchmark test between the Q6600 and the i5-2400. The latter is roughly equivalent to the i7-2670QM?

    Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, Score: 2967

    Intel Core i5-2400S @ 2.50GHz, Score: 5021
    Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3.10GHz, Score: 6108

    I've actually gone and changed my mind about getting a laptop over a desktop - looking to finalise this build - any pointers welcome!
