I'm running the tipping application for Cheltenham. Some of you were involved when it was run during the flat season.

Its free and for the craic. Sign up and make selections each day. Its got loose rules and not taken too seriously.

The first days races will be available after midnight on Sunday/Monday.

Tuesdays card will be up around 4 or 5 tomorrow after the final decs are published. I suggest you get in and sign up for the site and register for the competition as early as possible. The entry closes at 1.10 on Tuesday.

    P.S.

Did anyone who is already registered with the site not get an email the other day? I got an error when sending it and don't know if all were delivered successfully. Ta

The site is ready to accept selections for tomorrows card. I advise you leave it as late as you can, if you want, for each race (but not TOO late). We have around 15 in it so far, the more the merrier so sign up for the 4 days of Cheltenham!

    Few opinions if I may:

Maybe a few divs in it, have the middle section white, and either side one colour to make it stand out more.
Twitter feed on the "Homepage" maybe, get more people registered onto it if nothing else.
You don't need the date and time under your Login name, they're already on everyones desktop bar anyway.

Its important for horse racing. You need to know how many seconds you have left to make your tip. I find it useful personally.

    Quick question,

Fruity O Rooney returned 4.66 for a place on betfair, but i got returned 1.24?
Can you explain how does that work please?

Fruity was returned 4.66 (7/2 - 4/1) to place. Take 1 off to give the fractional odds 3.66/1.

    Deduct Betfair 5% comission

    (3.66 / 100) * 95 = 3.47700 (3.48)

Eachway in the application is 0.5pts eachway for everyone.

    3.48 * 0.5 (eachway) = 1.74

    1.74 - 0.5 (win) = 1.24

    Make sense?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,099 ✭✭✭tonic wine

Thank you. I was thinking e/w was a 2pt stake, but that wouldn't make since when i think about it.

    Cheers.

Well done to jimbob btw, made a great start.

Cards are up for tomorrow. Some small details are missing (jockeys) but will be updated later. You can at least get your selections in early if you want.

Forgot to mention, if you find your horse is a non runner, I'll try get to it as early as I can so you can make a new selection in that race. Batonnier is a N/R so I'll take him out now.

Top five positions after day 1

    Position| Username| Profit/Loss| Bets
    1| Jimbob| 43.30| 14
    2| kksaints| 14.41| 13
    3| Braggy| 9.11| 9
    4| mr.jingle| 3.67| 14
    5| wexford| 3.18| 7

A reminder that your entry will be deleted if you fail to select runners in more than 70% of the races, thats 19 races for this festival.

jimbob looks to be Big Bucks-ing it after day two. He had Une Artiste eachway in the Fred Winter and kksaints had Champagne Fever in the Bumper on the nose which thrust him into the running for second place. jimbobs worst possible score now is 30.30 so look for big priced winners for the last two days!

Cards are online for tomorrows races.

Hi Nulty, I sent you a mail via the big race winners site. I was hoping you could change the selection in the 4:40 for me, I meant to pick Midnight appeal but instead picked the Benbane head. Cheers

I'm a massive fan of that horse. Have him antepost for that race from when the declarations were made. Antepost for the National and has just done me a nice turn. Knew he was in the wrong race in November. I'd be fearful for him at Aintree.

I had forgot myself, really enjoyed the challenge and must admit it made me spend a little bit more time on my selections and every day was a winner. Thanks nulty and well done Jimbob.

Well done woodle and jimbob. I was split between picking ataglance and Toner D Oudairies for this in the second last and thought i had another winner in the bag....

At least i backed both to end the festival on a very high note and a very good day.

Thanks nulty, i enjoyed taking part. Looking forward to the next Big race Winners festival.
