Basically I did this on a win xp machine running office 2003.Both programs had different sets of problem obviously caused by the user so I thought this would be the easiest way of restoring the programs.
In word I deleted a registery key as instructed by a web tutorial.
In Excel I did a help/detect and repair which resets to defaults as well.
Great opened excel and word and the problems where fixed.
However now it appears that the users outlook is reset as well..account is deleted and all email..there is a backup to 22-2-12.
    1) Would resetting Word/Excel reset Outlook.
    2) Anyway to get back the missing email(from 22-2-12 onwards) or otherwise restore Outlook?

    2) Where is his email account - if on Hotmail or Gmail, you can probably change the POP3/IMAP settings on the account to facilitate re-download of all emails..

They emails are download form host Ireland so I doubt they keep copies..its a pop account

    1) Yes I appear to have reset office 2003 during the repair and detect in excel..it was tick box I should not have ticked..the installation of office ran afterwards..
    Emails are gone I reckon.duh

Relax! You might have a solution!

Unless you manually deleted the office directory, it is unlikely that all email was deleted. All outlook email is stored in a file with the extension .pst (i.e. outlook.pst). Find that file and it will contain all the emails

In outlook, go to accounts and point the file location to the .pst file once you have found it

if all else fails, consider system restore

    search for .pst files

just to confirm you are talking about outlook and not outlook express a totally different product with totally different way of doing everyting including how it stores emails
