Anyone considering the Fuji x-pro 1?

Depending on funds I'm very tempted to pick up the fuji x-pro 1 when it is officially released here at the end on this month.

I have the x-100 since it was released and even with all its quirks I use it a lot more than my dslr kit.

A couple of reviews have started to come out (it is available now in Asia) and the images on flickr look great.

It seems most of the 'problems' the x100 had have been addressed.

Anyone else tempted by the x-pro 1?

Would be very tempted, although i havent been in the market for a camera like this in a while so dont know how much a little fella like this is worth. The specs a pretty impressive, http://www.dpreview.com/previews/fujifilmxpro1/2, seen some 'preview' prices, would also be interested to know what people think of it.

I found this working review this morning http://holyfstop.blogspot.com/2012/03/two-weeks-with-fujifilm-x-pro1.html

camera looks like it will be very good, the high iso shots are amazing - on a par (if not better) at high iso's than my d700:eek:

Looks really nice, would love to replace the wedding kit with two of them. Nice and small and retro

I think the new Olympus OM-D E-5M will steal a lot of sales from the X-Pro. I for one will be picking one up.

I think the Olympus wins on price, autofocus speed and lens selection

The x-pro 1 wins on IQ, high Iso, and the hybrid ovf

Kipon have just released x pro 1 adapters (on ebay) for the Leica M lenses and the nikon f mount lenses

still leaning towards the fuji x pro 1

I would say the most significant feature of the EM-5 is the 5 axis image stabilisation. The weather sealing is nice too.

    Enjoy the Fuji

It's damn pretty and I had the money for it. But owning an x100 and knowing that it's features made up for some of its pitfalls are what keeps me happy with it. The pro x 1 has actually dropped the attractive extras in order to have different lenses, but offers nothing to compensate. I'm bitterly disappointed because if it was an advancement on the x100 and had retained the features I would have been all over it!

    what features did it drop?

was about to ask the same question - the only thing i can think of is the ND filter?

otherwise it seems the x-pro 1 has improved in all other areas compared to the x100

Well the main benefit I found was for off camera flash. Using cheap as chips triggers from amazon I was getting full flash sync speeds of 1/1000! And using the built in nd filter you could shoot with the sun in frame or edged on very bright days and use several off camera flashes with ease. Stopped down to 2.0! Beauty!

Then they got rid of it and it now has a 1/100 sync speed. Rubbish compared to standard dslr which have 1/250!

The focus is the same, by the wire, truly brutal you could never use these for weddings in a professional manner. You'll miss a million shots in low light just like the x100! It's a nice idea but it really isn't a big advancement at all. It's certainly not what the x100 should have been type thing.

The ND filter was there because it uses a leaf shutter (which the x pro 1 doesn't use) and it needs to be stopped down in bright light as it is limited to 1000s a@ f2

Yup forgot about the built in flash (although i never really use on the x100)

I don't think mirrorless cameras are replacements for dslrs for professional situations (weddings etc).

They are complimentary - my go to walk about camera is the x100 at the moment - the dslr comes out for sports or when i need some range.

anyhow back to the xpro 1 - here are some nice shots from a northern Irish based photographer

The super fast sync speed is really important though as it can only be achieved with expensive high speed sync flash triggers and compatible flashes if you were using a dslr!

The xpro 1 is good, but its not ground breaking and the focus is terrible! It's no M8 but you'd be looking at preowned prices for the new body only cost of this!

As much as I love my M8 it's not a low light camera and the high ISO of the X-Pro looks amazing... very tempting.

here is a blog of a leica user using the xpro 1 with a leica mount lens side by side a m9 - looks really promising even if he did shoot the portraits in velvia ;p

    http://www.f8photography.com.hk/blog...3/hyperprime1/

and check out his initial impressions of the xpro 1 shooting at isos - even 25600 doesnt look bad!
