Old Wheel

    Hi

    Not sure if these are any use, but i had to get a new rear wheel recently due to wear and tear. The old one was a bontrager one and i was seeing if there's anyone who could repair it or would anyone buy something like it? It's not buckled its just that its closed a bit and doesn't seal tight with the tyre so don't get enough pressure in the tube.
    Anyway, if anyone has any idea's what to do with there or if it can be salavaged, let me know.

    I know, the language isn't quiet right but it was early in the morning. Essentially the channel when the tube goes is after getting tighter due to usage i'm assuming. Hope that makes a bit more sense.
    Rothar.ie also sounds like a good idea. Think i'll drop it over to their workshop.

    Alright Kenmc will put up pic as soon as i get home. Took the wheel with me after got it replaced just in case. Not sure you'll see the difference with just the wheel and not tyre or tube in it.
    What exactly are we looking for? I'd like to think it needed to be fixed at the very least or else i just got scammed..... :(

    sounds to be like the rim is well worn, and its loosing its structural integrity, altho pics would obviously help. how many miles on the wheel paulo?

    I think he means the hoop section is bent inwards making good interface with the pool noodle impossible.

    I've put up 2 quick pics i took of the wheel. So I was told that the rims had started to narrow (where the red cover is) and the tube couldn't take as much pressure as it normally would.
    I think i'd done about 3,500km on them since i got them just over 3 years ago. Only did alot of cycling one of the years, apart from that it's for the daily commute 9no more than 10k return a day).

    Short commuting or city miles will wear down your rims much quicker than long cycles. You brake much more often. You should also occasionally check your brake pads for shards of aluminium. They lodge in there and wear down your rims like sandpaper each time you break. Dig them out or replace the pads every now and then.
