Havent been there but I shot one on the Carlton Abbey hotel in Athy too, and it was lovely, just if you want another option.

Found the Carlton Abbey piss poor myself:

    1. Awkward shaped room
    2. Food was cold
    3. Told guests wine had run out and presented Bride with 6 cases of it the next day
    4. Changed the centre-pieces on all tables at the request of a guests +1 the day before the wedding with no consultation of Bride or Groom.

    Awful venue.

Hiya, we're looking to book the Clanard Court for our wedding next year. We've met with the wedding co-ordinator Claire and she was lovely. Really liked the hotel, the bedrooms are spacious and nicely decorated, we really liked the choice of function rooms too as we're having a civil ceremony. We spent a night in the hotel and dined in the restaurant, the food was gorgeous!

I don't know anyone who has got married there, maybe search through an Irish wedding forum like weddingsonline.ie or mrs2b.ie and see what pops up?

    Hi Jgally,

I was a guest at a wedding there last year and thought it was a nice place and I believe my friends found them very accomodating and easy to deal with.

They also organised a 2 night stay and meal package for guests if they wanted to avail of it which was good value.

As far as I remember the food was fine, no complaints but nothing amazing either.

    Hope that helps somewhat!

I held a party to celebrate our wedding in the Clanard a while ago.

Overall I found them to be quite good, good food and nice rooms. The price was very good too, quite a bit less expensive than other options.

One thing I found was that they were sometimes difficult to communicate with - I had a fair few unanswered emails, left phone messages that weren't answered and so on. However, when I went in to meet them in person they were fine - so I would bear this in mind if you don't live near the hotel, might make things a bit more awkward for you.

But overall, I found them quite good.

I was at a wedding here a few year back, I wasn't that crazy about it. Food was fine etc but it just doesn't stand out in my memory. No wow factor.
