confused about grant maintenance

    Morning all!
    I am reading up on student finance regarding grants etc for the son who is hoping to go to DCU in Sept.
    On the page regarding grant levels regarding income,at the bottom of this paragraph it says "a tuition student does not qualify for a maintenance grant".
    This confuses me:confused:. If you are under the certain income limits are you not entitled to the maintenance grant?
    According to my husband's income we will be entitled to 100% as on the website.
    Maybe it is a straightforward answer and I am just stupid:o
    Could someone please clarify for me?

    Found out what a "tuition student" is via citizens information website.
    It is someone who fulfills all the conditions for a student grant except for residency of the state but who has been resident in another EEA state for 3 of the last 5 years.
