Hi this is an unusalone, I bought a Skoda Fabia 2 and a half weeks ago and 48 hours later the power steering pump died, now whilst i was annoyed the dealer was very helpful and was out to collect the car within the hour and assured me he'd get it sorted immediatly so I put it down to being just one of those things. Now he told me he was having trouble sourcing a pump and it would take a day or two to which I said ok, then he got it and he said it didnt fit and he'd have to get another which he did, then he said he found a minor electrical fault but it would be fixed the day after to which I agreed. Now all of this annoyed me a bit because it took a little over a week and he texted me last thursday to say it was fixed and told him I'd pick it up after work, later he texted saying leve it till the following day and hed drive it to be sure it was ok, again I agreed and I phoned the following day because he is a one man show so I must arrange to meet him at the garage as hes never there but when i phoned him I got no answer nor did he answer all day or all day friday!! So I was raging! I tried him Saturday morning no answer then i went to work and I was doing a job in a hospital so turned off my phone when I came out i had 2 missed calls and a text saying the cars ready, when i rang back yet again no answer and now ive gotten no answer sunday, monday, tuesday or today! Im not happy at all!! But my problem is he has no staff so unless he answers the phone he wont meet me at the garage so my question is do I get a friend to ring from a different number and pretend to want to meet about another car he has for sale or would you just go to the cops? or would they even be interested? Any replies apprieciated

Have you tried just showing up at the garage? Im pretty sure if it was me after two and a half weeks Id be camped outside the door waiting for him to show up...

Drive down and see if he is there. If he isn't find out what cars he has and get a friend to call about one of them saying they want to buy whatever one it is. Get your friend to arrange a time to meet. That should entice him out of his hole. Then just turn up when you know he is there and get your car back. Make sure you bring a friend or two in case he tries anything on. He doesn't sound very honest to me. So expect the unexpected.

Make sure to get your car independently checked out to make sure it's ok.

Whilst the cops may sound overkill to you my car isnt parked in his yard and hasnt been there in a week as far as I can see as I pass it everyday going to and leaving work. The car is new to me its 2001. Ya i show up at different times most days called 6 times today.

Honestly not exactly sure what they could do in this case. Best to get legal advice if you feel it's got to that stage.

Drop a detailed note through his letterbox outlining the difficulties, asking him to contact you to resolve the situation asap.

If that doesn't work, you could look at raising the stakes...

Can you not just demand a full refund as the car is clearly not ready and you could under the sale of goods and supply of services act 1980 say as a consumer that the product is clearly not up to scratch, ie not drivable.

If you think he has defrauded you as in a deception then maybe report at your local Garda station

"unusual one", I'm guessing. Just a typo.
