Contact Company directly?

    Hi,
I saw a job advertised with an agency who I contacted as I thought it was for a job I had previously been interviewed for by a particular company recently but it turned out it was for another job so I told them to put me forward for it. The recruiter said that they were looking to fill role urgent enough and I was lead to believe interviews would be this week. I have exact qualifications and experience role requires. I've emailed the recruitment agency and rang yesterday but didn't get speaking to my contact and they never rang back yesterday or today. All I want is an update, for all I know they could have had a day off work today so didn't see my email.

However I know someone who got me a contact email for Manager in this department of the company. Should I email my CV directly to him and explain he may have my CV already from recruitment agency or will it look underhand to the recruitment agency if they find out or will it look too desperate to Manager?

All I want is to have a good chance of getting an interview and getting the job.

Generally speaking if you go direct in this scenario your application will most likely be extinguished- submitting a CV twice will be seen as an error and oversight on your behalf.

You are also trying to bypass the recruiter who recruiter you- that might not go down well either. I would keep persevering with getting feedback from him tbh. If your CV was submitted and the company was interested in you the recruiter would be on to you pretty quickly in any case.

Companies always prefer to receive CVs directly from candidates as it cuts out the cost of paying a recruitment company.

    But:

If they receive a CV from an agency first then they are bound to pay the agency if they select that candidate, even if they receive the CV directly alsoas it become difficult to prove which happened first

    But

However if they have not received your CV from the recruitment company then you are free to act and submit it. You could inform the recruitment company that, as you had not received confirmation that your CV had been submitted that you submitted it directly and that their services were no longer required.
