    Hey

have noticed a few irl. reg ( ex uk though) classics and older prestige cars for sale at uk classic car dealers , but was curious as to whether cars like bentley conti. gt and aston martin db9s ( as well as other cars selling for low low prices in the recession ) are being exported much to the uk or even ASIA and OZ ?

Ex UK cars can of course be re- registered for small fee in the uk and they benefit from strength of sterling !

buyers from asia and oz save on not having to buy the vehicles in stg. like they do when buying from uk.

if I were n irish car dealer and one with decent cash to buy stock , I know this is where i would be selling to !

Don't know but I did see a 2001 BMW X5 V8 that was taxed until August and longer NCT on Donedeal for under €5k about 6 weeks ago. High reg no so looked like it had been ex UK. Was tempted to buy it and run it till the tax was up (maybe a month or two longer ;)) and ship it over to the brother in England to try and recover the purchase price. If it had been a Y plate originally rather than a 51 plate, it would have gone back on a Y plate which AFAIK would mean cheaper tax over there, not that the higher rate is anything as penal as here. Sold quicker than I could even view it :(.

dont know about high end cars, but my cousin sold his 2002 Camry last week to a russian guy who was exporting 2002-2004 Camry's to Russia where he said he was making a killing on them.

he bought my cousins for 3k, and he said he will get 9k in the trade for it over there and was actively looking for more.

Unusual haggling tactic - boasting to the seller how much profit he was going to make flipping it!
