NUIG student linked to hacker group "hacktivist"

    This is a bit surprising to say the least! I think I met one of them once but I don't really know him. Bit silly of them to get mixed up in this sort of thing. Looks like they're both f*cked!

    Donncha O Cearbhail is definitely an NUIG student, i see him around all the time and he is friends with friend of mine from a club im in. The article says the other, who i've never heard of, also is. So you're wrong they both are NUIG students. O Cearbhaill was also a member of this club for a while back in september.

    Darren Martyn is NUIG, he's in my girlfriend's class.

    no he hadn't been arrested by the guards at that time i believe. he was around the college today.

    Darren Martyn, of NUIG, was posting in the tech security forum yesterday in the thread relating to their arrest under one of his online usernames, infodox.

    Here is the link to the thread. One can't help but be saddened by this, they both appeared to have great intelligence and were obviously quite good at what they enjoyed doing. A lecturer of mine said they had Darren Martyn in one of his other subjects and could only say good things about him, he seemed to be shocked by the news. They had such a great future ahead of them. I mean, look at them... They just kids for fucks sake! Naive, stupid kids.

    One can only hope that they only get a minimal punishment, because they seem to be the type of lads who can contribute something to society - hopefully whatever punishment they receive doesn't destroy their ability to do so, as it possibly could.
