Hi there! Yeah we we're originally looking at Dreams in La Romana too but it got too expensive for the time we we're looking to go. A work colleague is actually heading to La Romana in August too!! It looks like an amazing place...it really does!

Hi there, myself and my girlfriend are thinking to heading to Dreams in Punta Cana in September.

How did your holiday go, would you recommend it?

    Thanks :)

I went to Dreams Punta Cana in September 2010. Here is the review I put on tripadvisor (name - rachie1234).

    Hi Brennarr,

We would definetly recommend Dreams Punta Cana.

We we're looking for a quiet relaxing luxurious holiday and thats exactly what we got. From the moment you get to the hotel you feel pampered.

The quality of the food and drink is really of a high standard. We tried every restaurant but our favourite was Oceania which serves mainly seafood. It looks out right on the beach. We went all inclusive so everything was free even room service so my advice would be make the most of it!

If you are lying on the beach or by the pool the staff will come and ask you if you would like any drinks so you really dont have to lift a finger.

Would defo recommend the spa...its expensive though. We were given vouchers upon check-in at hotel so we're able to get a 50 minute massage together for 55 dollars each which wasnt too bad.

The room was immaculate. We were in the building right beside the beach. Fridge was stocked everyday and cleaners did a great job.

Through our rep we booked the zip-linging tour. It was 90 dollars each but a great experience and great fun!

Do be careful with guys bothering you selling excursions. They will come up to you on the beach even though its meant to be private. They will hang around the entrance/exits and will follow you down the road so they dont give up easy. Also, 2 nights a week there are markets on the hotel grounds. Same story here you will be hassled by these guys at every turn and the stuff is way way over priced anyway.

The only downside was the flying. We were not aware until we turned up at the airport that there is also a stopover in Antigua. You have to stay on the plane for an hour then go the further hour journey to Punta Cana. So it ended up being Dublin-Gatwick, Gatwick-Antigua and Antigua-Punta Cana which was a bit if a pain. But absolutely zero to do with the hotel. Just check before you leave what the story is re flights.

All in all, it was a great holiday, 7 days might feel a bit short so next time we would stay for 10 or 14 days.

    Hope that helps :)

    Eric

    Hi Guys,

Many thanks for your great reviews, much appreciated.

I think we are going to booked this week for 10 days. I'm looking forward to the all -inclusiveness of it. It'll be my first time :)

    Thanks

Our doctor advised us to take malaria tablets which can be quite expensive. She had seen someone who got Malaria somewhere in the country. We were prescribed Malarone.

But no shots unless we were stating there long term.

Hi,my boyfriend and are going on the 30th August. Our travel agent said we didn't need injections but there is Malaria in DR,are you going to take tablets before you go?

We're also flying Dublin–Gatwick-Punta Cana,I just looked up our flights with British airways and it does say there's a stop between Gatwick and Punta Cana...we weren't told that either!

We looked at the Dreams Resorts too but ended up going for the Now Larimar which is in the same chain,It's mad there's lots of five star reviews and then one star! Has anyone stayed here?

Any other advice on Punta Cana? Did anyone go to Santa Domingo?I've been reading mixed reviews about how safe it is to go out of the resort.

    1) we only got injections , malaria tablets can be taken , but we did not.
    2) theres a stop between gatwick and punta cana , in antigua. It is about 1 hour ish and you stay in the plane.
    3) i went dreams palm beach , no complaints
4)santa domingo is far away (3.5 hours each way) but interesting , full day trip , only go if you want to badly , But not recommended. We only left resort with tour companies and to head down the street , but not far.

One trip that is good , is to head to an island off the coast called saona, very good trip.

    Hi Bigben

Myself and the girlfriend are heading to Dreams, Palm Beach in. A couple of weeks

I'm just wondering what sort of beers are available to drink. Is there corona, Heineken etc.. Or what would you recommend? Not a big cocktail fan myself

    Cheers

there were many cocktails , not to sure on beers. I think they had local beers from DR. Not sure if they had any international ones.
