    €30 x locked in for 24months = €720

    Where's the bargain?

Really depends on what the contract offers. When I've looked at Voda before they've been ludicrously overpriced.

A new sim-free Samsung S2 costs about €429 on amazon.de. So by locking yourself in for 2 years, calls and data cost the equivalent of €291 or just over €12 a month. Just another way of looking at it. But you are locked in.

whats included in "plan a" ?
is it 100mins and 100 texts with no data?

You may want to wait a few weeks, the Samsung Galaxy S III is rumoured to be announced soon...

that phone is already about a year old, why would you want it for another 2 years? the reason its cheap (not really that cheap anyway) is that it will probably be replaced soon...

The Galaxy s3 will probably be release in Ireland around May or June, and it will be quad core.

That said, 30 a month for the s2 is a good deal if it comes with a decent data package. It's also getting the upgrade to Android 4 next month, the screen is great on it. For this high end model, 24 months is not a huge contract.

I would really love to know what makes you think this is in the pipeline for sale in Ireland in May or June when Samsung themselves haven't even confirmed it's existence..... yet.

Different versions of the SGS2 are still being released. Some carriers in the US are only starting to stock the phone (US Cellular for example).

The Galaxy S2 is the biggest selling android phone .. ever... 20 million worldwide in the last 10 months alone. It has won the Smartphone of the year ahead of iphone4s at the recent Mobile World Congress. The new android OS update (ice cream sandwich) is about to be made available to all Galaxy S2 owners for free.

The next S-series phone is a mix of rumours and wishful thinking at the moment from it being a 3D phone to having a 12mp camera and 2GB of memory. The quad core processor is a given.

Anyway my point is that the S2 is still selling like hotcakes so it would make sense for Samsung to hold off on releasing an 'upgraded' model for a while.

    Vodafone's €30 p/m plan gives you a grand total of 0 mins + 0 texts + 500MB data.

The Galaxy S2 is €99 on a 24 month contract.

As great as the S3 is likely to be the S2 is basically a perfect phone right now.
Anything more will just be bonus.

Apologies. Calls and texts to other Vodafone mobiles are free. Still a shite offer though.

There were a number of trustworthy leaks as to the progress of the original S3 design. It was basically an incremental iteration of the series at that point. Then Samsung officially canned that design. They were sick of these leaks and decided to tighten up ship and go all apple-esque and redesign the S3 after this point. They didn't go with MWC launch as they think it's a big deal. The latest rumour, presumably coming from a controlled leak, is that it includes some new tech which is 'a game changer'. Speculation on this refers to flexible oled etc., but it's just speculation. I very much doubt it's anything but iterative. I think April/May is a realistic launch schedule, but Irish operators are never very fast on the uptake unless it's an iphone.

    €279.99

    -€20.33p/m

    -18 months
    -200 min

Is meteor's deal above not better for the SG2

How good is meteor's coverage in the sticks?

I've heard that it will have a curved AMOLED screen, which is more probable, but a less exciting proposition.

Yeah I much prefer the angular S2 design to the curved Nexus....a curved screen?
Not seeing that being too attractive, or useful for reading/watching for that matter.

hi everyone, just checking back to this tread.. im afraid to say vodafone is the one that has great coverage service in my home and thats were i spend most of my time... apart from taken the children to and from school...

bloke at the shop said i would have a 100 free mins and texts to other networks, free vodafone calls and texts and yep 500mb for the net.

the way i was looking at it.. to buy the phone as a prepay is 479 approx... so in the long run It will be just like topping up my fone every month for 30euro x24months?

i was with meteor and o2 in the past 12 months and it was so so bad... three was no better.. I literally have to go outside get into my car and drive out as far as the gate to get a decent coverage!! So So bad..

vodafone on the other hand get 4 bars out of 5

Im still opened minded, i know 24 months is a long time to be locked into somthing... but what it will cost on monthly topups am i better off going this route?

If you stick to the contract limits, and don't intend emigrating in the next two years, I'd go for it. 500mb is a bit low but if you've got wifi at home you should be ok.

If you paid 479, you'd budget for a tenner a month in top ups, cant see that getting you very far on that.

Great phone by the way, the bigger display really is great for watching netflix etc.

    lol @ confusing post.

I think they meant they find people on contracts amusing. My contract is rolling month on month for €15 with data. Not much to laugh at I think...
