Replacing my dear old Sony Xperia Play

Went skiing and destroyed said phone, now I'm on the lookout for a new one.

Been quoted around 180 for a new one, and am wondering am I better to get a PSP Go and go the cfw route for all the emulators and then a full on android phone instead of a simple like for like replacement?

I loved the play, it was slightly bulky but perfect for my commute as I loved the emulation aspect of it. Camera (no zoom?!) and software could have been slightly better but I really liked the android format.

I was previously Meteor PAYG. Wouldn't use that much data (about 1gb a month), maybe would use more if I had an all you can eat plan. I'd mainly be a texter, would text a lot, would ring a bit too. Maybe 1400 texts a month and around 1200 minutes, most to meteor. Would average 40 quid a month in credit.

Anyone care to say whether I should stick with the play or go for the SSG2 or any other suggestion? Any plan recommendations (40 a month or under here)?
Would be open to bill pay if it suits, would like to spend under 300 if possible, open to where I buy the phone too, but would like it to be new.
