    Putting a syndicate together for well bred 2yo flat filly, she is a 1/2 sister to 8 winners, looking for 10 members at 1,000 euro each,that will buy her and will leave 5,000 euro in the kitty for training registering etc. anyone interested?

    I can't imagine 5k going very far with training fees, you'd want each person to be putting up at least two or three grand imo

    Really this amount should get her named and the syndicate registered was thinking 2k... and then 3k for first couple of months training should get us near enough a run, filly is currently being Driven in long reins!

    You really need proper detailed figures broken down and an estimate of yearly costs for folks to even remotely consider it.

    5k = cost of filly
    6k = 5 months Training
    4k = Horse racing Ireland

    15k= Total /10 = 1.5k each

    1k each gets her into training and we find out if she is any good , and should get us a run, If she is decent there is a chance no more funds will be required however if she shows promise at home and fails to show it on the course an additional 500 per head may be required... If she has shown nothing after 5 months in training we pull the plug.

    There's next to no chance of that being the case.
    Best of luck though, I hope she wins plenty for you.

    Her dam has bred all winners to runners, Her siblings have won over 50 races, rated 100+ a couple of them have competed in group company, 3 of them have earned over 100k each in prizemoney, her sire has a high % stakes horses to runners.

    Next to no chance that being the case? possibly but a far better chance than most!

    Dont want to put you off but ,was asked recently by top syndicate for 8,000e up front for 1/10 share out of a top nh mare.and 100e per month with plus.He has run two bumpers and is shocking and is trained by the very best.If you buy flat at your budget you are playing at a very low level and because we have so little racing you will find it hard to get a race.Alot of syndicated horses are used as work horses for better stock in the yard.

    Maybe 4 or 5 years ago.... there has never been a better time to get involved, not nearly as many horses around and her price is a reflection of the economy.... ponty acclaim group winner sold for 5k is a good example!

    For 5k their has to be something wrong if she's everything you say she is... She must be rotten of the wind, a bad mover or something...?

    I have been involved in national hunt syndicates and its a lot more expensive than yopu realise. We were with a small local trainer who had reasonable rates (we priced around) and it cost approx 1100 a month in training fees. Add in fees fro the vet, the dentist, the farrier, transport, schooling, and entries to HRI (which cost a fortune if you get balloted out a lot, maybe that doesnt happen in flat but it def does in national hunt).. some months that all added on 500-1000.
    Its an expensive hobby !!

    Budgeted 1200 per month Training all inclusive, don't think you get charged entries for being balloted, correct me if I'm wrong?

    You get your entry fee returned if you get balloted out. It's important to note that you obviously must be declared to get balloted out. A lot of careless trainers don't worry about the entry fee's and don't bother declaring thereby forfeiting the fee.

    I'm interested Mike.

    Living in Melbourne for next 2 years but will be looking to own a horse soon enough.

    What distances is her breeding? 5/6f sprints or a miler or further?

    My family have stables down the curragh too so I might be able to assist in some aspects of the costs.

    Alot of my family are jockies/trainers too.

    Let me know some mroe details via PM when you can

    Thanks

    Dave

    As BDTH said, if the horse is declared and is subsequently ballotted out, then the entry fee is returned. If the horse isn't declared, then the entry fee is lost at that particular stage (most races have about 3 declaration stages).

    This point has been mentioned in several threads over the last while, and it's been recommended that, if the owner isn't receiving their returned entry fees, they have a chat with their trainer about it.
