Get 25% off Iomega products when you use code EMCIOD200906 at the checkout on their website.

Cheers. They still seem to be quite expensive. I'm looking for a reasonable 250-500gb portable harddrive. I was thinking < €100 anyway.

Don't get an iOmega media drive whatever you do... They're awful...

I have one, what's the issue with yours? I hate the remote control but other than that it's the business!

What one you have? I have the ScreenPlay Director... It take several minutes to start up, the interface is slow and ugly, the remote control sometimes barely works, it doesn't play most mkvs, audio on some videos makes this horrible skip noise every few seconds and the worst thing it just randomly crashes half the time, it'll stall in the middle of the video and wont turn off, also if you play videos on it for a few hours and try turn it off, it wont, it'll just sit with the light flashing unless you get up and hold the button on the drive down for a while... It functions perfectly well as an external HDD but once you hook it up to a tv it all goes horribly wrong...

What A Nightmare!!! I'm sure I have the same one, but i think it plays mkv files  Does yours work through wireless too? Mine has got knocked around by my little ones fairly badly too, it has had juice splashed on it and playdough shoved in the back!

You should send yours back, that's faulty! I mean they are expensive enough.
I had trouble with the remote control so I contacted Iomega and they sent a replacement immediately, they might help you out too.

I've had it for over a year at this stage so I'd imagine it's out of warranty

    http://www.expansys.ie/iomega-screenplay-director-1tb-hd-media-player-usb-2-0ethernetav-194644/

That's the one I have, it's discontinued so I guess people don't have to worry about getting one. But from my experience with it I'll never buy another iOmega product again... I think you have a different one to me, as mine doesn't have wireless without buying an extra adapter... Oh and on the network abilities... The youtube function never worked either.. Haha I've seen plenty of people on the net warn against getting them, not sure if that extends to all iOmega stuff

That looks like mine......I have it about a year and a half, hope it doesn't act up, i'd like to get another year out of it at least!

Nearly all them, Tallaght, LiffeyValley, O'connell st.

O'Connell st is the best, LOADS of stock of various makes/sizes.

    Cheers.

I saw some in O'Connell Street today, but they were over €100...

I thought they were more expensive in the Blanch Center but it was a while since I looked at them.

    Hi Doomofman,

Re your Iomega Multimedia drive, did you look on their website for a firmware update? it's just that the issues you are having with your unit sound like you're possibly running an early version f/w ...

Also, while I have no particular loyalty to Iomega, I've always found their tech support and warranty repair service excellent ..

    Anyway, hope this helps :)
