Hi folks, I'm asking this on behalf of my wife.

She's been on JB, collecting from the post office every Wednesday.

On Tues 21/02 she was certified sick (until at least 01/06/2012) and submitted the IB form accordingly.

On Wed 22/02 she collected JB from the post office (202.90). IB application not yet processed.

On Wed 29/02 she attempted to collect JB from the post office but there was nothing for her.

On Wed 07/03 an IB payment was lodged in to her bank account, for 169.10. Going forward it will be 202.90 every Wed. The first payment was only 169.10 as, so I am to understand, one day was paid by JB.

That's fine, but my query is, what happened to the payment for Wed 29/02? There was no JB payment but also no IB payment. She's a week (202.90) down.

    Any advice appreciated.

The first 3 days of an ilness claim are not payed see here http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/disability_and_illness/disability_benefit.html

I dont know if this is the case when moving between JSB and IB,as for the missing week,do you switch between a week in advance and a week in arrears?(getting payed).

I have read that the first three days of IB are unpaid, however it would seem that this rule does not apply when moving directly from JB to IB. If it did it would explain a missing 3 days, not a missing 6 days.

My wife's JB payment has been paid every Wednesday. As I understand, this is for the six (payable) day period from the Wednesday to the Tuesday inclusive that immediately precedes the Wednesday pay day.

    I.E.:
    • Wed 01/02 - Tue 07/02 she was a jobseeker and received 6 days JB for that period, paid on Wed 08/02.
    • Wed 08/02 - Tue 14/02 she was a jobseeker and received 6 days JB for that period, paid on Wed 15/02.
    • Wed 15/02 - Mon 20/02 she was a jobseeker (sick on Tue 21/02, IB claim commenced on that date) and received 6 days JB for that period, paid on Wed 22/02 (actually only 5 days JB were payable, so the DSP are entitled to recoup the 1 day over payment due to delay in setting up the IB payment).
    • Wed 22/02 - Tue 28/02 she was claiming IB but received no payment for this period at all.
    • Wed 29/02 - Tue 06/03 she was claiming IB and received 5 days IB for that period, paid on Wed 07/03 (should be six days, but they legitimately deducted 1 day for Tue 21/02 when JB was paid instead, as explained above).

So you see, the six day period between Wed 22/02 - Tue 28/02 (in bold above) appears to be unaccounted for. I'm trying to understand why. Is it a mistake on their part, or have I overlooked something?

EDIT: Unless, of course, payment for IB is paid two weeks in arrears?
