I live in Australia - this article is from Australia - some spiders in Australia can kill you - I dont know which ones can hurt me and which ones cant => I stay away from all f***ing spiders when I'm here and dont want to see fields full of the fu*kers!

These are Orb Weavers. They are about as big as the scoop end of a tablespoon. Also rather hairy.

We're grand here in Ireland, aren't we? What's our most dangerous wildlife, a pissed off badger maybe?

I don't particularly like spiders but I find that story really interesting. They are pretty fascinating creatures; the whole ballooning thing is remarkable, especially since these are solitary spiders that never associate with each other normally but are now helping each other try to escape. That's pretty cool.

Also, the whole eating mosquitoes thing comes in handy. I'd take a field of spiders over a field of mosquitoes any day.

Why are you people afraid of spiders?

It's an instinctual phobia, same as a fear of snakes. All spiders are venomous and many are dangerous. The fact that we live in a place where there are very few dangerous spiders doesn't matter to the primitive fear response part of our brain (the amygdala)

    I fecking love spiders.
More because I hate flies, I’m happy to have a few living around the house to take care of the buzzing in summer.

"The spiders don't pose any harm at all. They are not aggressive and only bite if they face a severe threat or their lives are in danger. They have a mild venom, so if they were to bite you, you would only get a bit of a headache and some local pain.

"The amount of mosquitoes around would be incredible because of all this water, but these spiders are capturing all these insects and bugs.

"They are doing us a favour. They are actually helping us out."
