Whats your thoughts on the 1.6 1999 Passat ?
    would it be reliable ?
    heavy on fuel ?

The car im thinking of looking at has 74k miles and an NCT till 02/13
    worth a look ?

Anything I should look out for ?

It'd be hard enough on fuel, if you can afford to buy, tax and run a diesel tdi passat, its a better car.

Things to look out for on passats is faulty window regulators, dodgy central locking, water ingress to the cabin (feel under all the carpets), lots of water in behind the bulk head on the engine bay side, Cv joints go on them easy, so watch on for clicks driving forward and backwards on full lock left and right.............check everything basically.
