A police procedural on CBS? Glad to see they're finally trying something new!

    De Niro produced

I liked The Unusuals so might check out the pilot to see Adam Goldberg and Terry Kinney

Might give this a shot, looks like it has promise. Plus there are a few faces from Generation Kill and Oz in it...and Rawls from The Wire:D

Just started on CBS, its a show about rookie cops new to the beat.
"Rookie Blue" also covered this area but as you can read in some reviews (LIKE HERE), they are much different in content and style.

Having watched both opening episodes to both shows, I have to say I prefer NYC22.
It (to me anyway) it feels more real. Closer to the streets and not just comes across as a syrup drama.
After some opening scenes and then the title music played, it reminded me of the grittiness of HillStreet Blues (having its own role-call too). It looks like the show might be heading, even partly (not a bad thing?) in that direction at times.

One thing that struck me was "My god! Leelee Sobieski is very thin" - or has gotten even more thinner than I save seen her over the years in many films.
I found it hard to believe at first it was actually her! She has gotten even more skinnier.
(But I'd still roll in the hay with her! I'd be so lucky!) :D
Leelee stars as “White House” Perry, a former college volleyball star and Marine MP in Iraq with a take-charge attitude.
Its obvious from the end of the show that of any of them, she will have the ability to rise in rank quicker.

I like the pilot too and I suspect, given the chance, the show might last longer than "Rookie Blue".
For a first episode, while not ground-breaking, it had me on tenterhooks for a small part already with one inner drama involving a hostage situation.
Not a bad way to begin a show and already is indicative of skills inherent to its makers! A feeling I don't get for sure, from "Rookie Blue" since its beginning.

I actually pretty enjoyed it, but it's hard to get used to another police procedural after watching Southland. Something kinda bothered me though - would somewhere really let a guy into a bar to drink with a gun visibly showing? Cop or not, that seemed odd.

I do not know NYPD procedures but is possible that 2 rookie cops are sent together on the street in their first day?

Watching it now. Kinda sad that Rookie Blue is probably killed for this coz I quite enjoyed it but this seems different. Grittier anyway and with some great actors.

Though its already ticking a few cliche boxes.

    www.imdb.com/title/tt1825122/

looking up who's making it the writer/creator wrote clockers etc seems to have some good stuff to his name, he also write several episode of the wire, just happened to be listening to his audio commentary on a wire ep he wrote said he's more interested in quirky happenings then police procedure, you see that, of course the wire tried to avoid convenient conincidences (not that there were none ) but there are so many of in this show, ugh we bennetton colors of the world, we nearly get their whole back story in the first ep and then they do so many things they wouldn't in real world.

how many have been shot so far?

the director seems to have done more shiney stuff

the pilot was good but the second ep stacked up very well. Having everything happen around the same block with the different gangs trying to take the territory was very griping and it was well produced. Some of it felt a bit like The Wire at times which is no bad thing - and they share a writer as the previous poster points out. it's no Wire though but if it keeps going it might be a pretty strong, engaging series.

it was wierd they must have cut a bit out of the first ep all we say of the pakistani's girl crush was her passing him as she left, we didn't even know who she was

Cancelled, no surprise....the ratings were horrendous.

Just watched the first episode of this and I have to say that it's damn fine television. From some of what I had read regarding the show I was expecting something lightweight and harmless but there's a sense of realism and grittiness to it that bodes well for the rest of the series. Real shame it's been canceled as given some time I could see this turning into something special.

Will they not air the remaining episodes?

Will they not air the remaining episodes?

I think the next episode is scheduled for May 27th and then that's it. The episodes may get burnt off over the summer or a network they sold it to may air all the show or most likely they'll be put online. Hopefully we do get to see the full season as there's nothing worse than enjoying a series only to find it canceled and the remainder of the episodes left to rot.

Just watched all the episodes and really liked it. Not happy to find out now that its cancelled.

    Ah well :(

I'm not sure - I found it hard to take it seriously to be honest. While they had some pretty decent actors and ideas, the music just irked me. Guess I'm just getting used to the more-realistic shows like Southland, where you could forget that you were watching a TV show.

ah she's the writers daughter and the white junkie in the wire

I've enjoyed Ep 5 and 6. 5 looked to be continuing where 4 left off. But Ep 6 really took it up another level in terms of drama and intensity and plot.
It also developed the relationships and characters alot more.
Looking forward to seeing this one out.

Yeah it's a shame this got mired in Cancelville. I thought it was shaping up to be a great show and was quite classy in spots. The music selection was great I thought, from the opening theme to some of the harder edge funk and soul they used. Great episodes were really great and regular ones were pretty OK. Ah well :(

I think that they looked at the music used in 'How To Make It In America' and used that as their blueprint.

Really didn't think it was done that greatly. The most recent episode, where they're involved in the robbery of the bar, and it was terribly done, compared to how other shows would have handled it.

The new latest episodes are decent, more growth for the characters and decent story lines.
But I fear that this show is not going to go anywhere and lacks some substance.

Hasn't this already been canned? I thought it was already and that's why they poured the remaining eps out en masse.

Yep, I'm commenting on the remainder of the season run, rather than future seasons.

ep 9 the last minute, *cringe*

Watching this on Netfli atm and still enjoy it. It lacks the girt and sense of realism that The Wire and Southland have and the scripts are rather lightweight but that's no bad thing.

I wish they would make more of this programme.
