    A Chairde

Have recently purchased a G770 with 500 Gb, Intel GMA and i3-2330M processor.

I have tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate , Professional (32 - 64 bit), it seems to install well, files loaded, reboot, add User ID and Automatic updates, reboot ..... then system boots but restarts before it loads the operating system, and keeps rebooting.

Similar to using CD-ROM as primary boot drive, and not having a bootable CD in the drive.

I have loaded Win XP (had to change the SATA drive setting from AHCI to COMPATIBILITY), and it works fine. I can see the previous install of Win 7 on seperate partition it was installed.

Anyone seen this before, any ideas ??

Do you need to now adjust you boot sequence in the BIOS to go to the hard drive first? if shouldn't matter, but it might sort it out.

    Thanks for reply John

The BIOS is reset to HDD first, when booting CD for install used F12 boot key.

Win 7 uses same bootup as XP, and it installed fine ...

I can only guess that it is you installation media, that you may have some problem with the cd or the data on it. The burn may not have went to plan or if its pre-printed that there is some issue with it or damage or something. You can do a check sum on it to see is the ISO accurate (Google it).

You could try reburning it slowly, if you downloaded it, you may have to do it again and make sure its right before you burn, then make sure its right after you burn. I had loads of issues similar to this over the years with Linux distro's. Trying to get a clean copy on a disk is not as easy as it seems. The slightest error in data will throw up an error or cause some problem with the install. One of the first things done at the beginning of any install is a data integrity check, sometimes also with installs is the loop effect, which sounds like your problem where the it just keeps repeating.

You could try doing a usb install using a flash drive, you need to put the ISO on the USB key by using a small program you will download like ISOtoUSB or something else. The install is similar, but you set usb to boot first and the rest is the same. However, that won't work if the ISO is in someway flawed to begin with.

You say XP works fine and Win 7 does not, so the difference between the installs is media and data, the laptop is the same in each case so going on probability alone your problem seems to be the media or data your using.

Thanks for the replies, I found a solution

The DVD I was using worked on HP NC2400, no problems, I found another OEM DVD with 64 Bit Windows 7 and it installed flawlessy.

    Thanks again John
