My driver clubhead speed is on average 100mph and the ball speed is on average 135mph, just wondering if this is good, bad or average compared to most people?

Your ball speed should be very close to 1.5 times your clubhead speed - a number known as Smash Factor in the fitting industry. Your Factor is 135/100=1.35 which means the ball is not compressing off the face efficiently because of a mis-hit most likely, but also a crappy ball or cracked clubface, etc, etc, can also be culprits.

If you are finding the middle of the face, your swing speed should be generating a ball speed in the region of 145-150mph...

A smash of 1.5 is almost perfect anything over 1.4 would be good. 1.35 would suggest you are not hitting it out of the center of the face.

My opinion would be that your speeds are pretty solid but way below the boardies average.

Unfortunately, i see where this thread is going

That's pretty sad Redzah. You drop the bait for all the idiots out there in internet land only dying to start another distance debate and then you'll probably scream I told you so when it begins. Pat yourself on the back for your insight.

OP, hopefully you'll find it more useful to read that I think your clubhead speed is pretty good and probably a bit above average, however your ball speed doesn't match.

Where did you get the numbers from? I presume from a launch monitor at a fitting perhaps? The poor relationship between both numbers may indicate just how inaccurate the source actually is, so you may find one or both to be quite off the mark....

Sorry if this is a stupid question but if you're connecting with the right part of the club face on the correct point on the ball, is there such a problem as swinging too fast?

Don't think it is good for the body - just my own opinion and body.

Ah I see. Sorry I was thinking about it from a swing point of view, rather than the physical effect.

Another problem is the energy involved is a squared relationship. So reducing to 100 mph has great benefits for joints etc.

The guys on tour train for this. But i would worry about the amount they are playing and need for speed. Young rory needs to watch himself in future. He is grand now , but look at the problems Tiger had.

I'd say more players play with injury and pain than we know.

Not my area , I'd say others on here know about it. It is all about straight not long.

I found this at a recent fitting; my smash factor was about 1.37 on average. The guy gave me some impact tape that I put on the face of driver at the range to see where on the face I was hitting the ball.

Was an eye opening experience in that even when I felt I had hit the ball off the middle it was actually on the inside and abit high. I started to work on standing a little furthur away and tee'ing it abit lower.

Tha is where the black face on the titleist 910 and taylormade clubs come in handy. You can see exactly where you hit the ball on the face almost every time.
