Undercoat substitute

    painting a bedroom , i have dulexsoft sheen vinyl.

    i want to do an undercoat but havnt got any, could i use an interior white matt or a masonary paint as an undercoat?

    was hoping to use up some paint i didnt use and save having to buiy more undercoat.

    I've used normal white interior paint as an undercoat before with no issues ;)

    if the walls are new plaster u need to coat them first with mat emulsion mixed with water, if walls are already coated u can apply soft sheen straight away no need to undercoat/prime them.
    make sure u sand the walls down before painting and between the coats!! prep prep prep is the key to good finish:)
