Im not sure were to put this so apologies if its in the wrong place and feel free to move it. I have my full licence (B) but I'm looking to buy a moped, and I'm not sure what way to go about it licence wise. It is just marked B so i cant drive a moped with it can I?Even though when i had a provisional i could have driven both a car and moped. Any help appreciated.

    Cheers.

Did you're previous Learner Permit have the M catagory ticked? If so you can just re-apply for a new learner permit, mark the box and pay the fee.

If not, you'll have to do the A1,A and M catagory theory test, pay the fee, 2 signed photos and include an eyesight report. You'll also have to do the IBT course before you can even ride on the road alone I'm afraid. It's very expensive to start out biking these days.

Wow it does seem like a lot of money and hassle, ye my learners permit had M and A1 ticked as far as i know, but now my full license just has B ticked. Its all a bit confusing to me :o Im hoping I can just re-apply. Thanks for your reply.

    +1.

Here's a question, slightly different. Even i'm not 100% sure.

I had an A1 provisional license added to my B provisional less than 5 years back. When I passed my B test, I got that full license and now don't have the provisional any more.

Now I want an A license, would I have to complete the theory test again? Or would I be able to apply for it straight away since I had an A category before?

Well, you only passed your B category test. You'd need to just re-apply for your learner permit.

Passing your B test doesn't automatically give you the M category.
