Well, that was easy - disagree strongly for everything :D

I love how that survey looks like its been written by a five year old, questions are repetitive and they don't ask at all about, for me, the most important aspects of using the bus. ie. Nitelink, Leap Card.

It's a generic European survey, the questions aren't specific to any one operator.

Are there any results available from previous years surveys?

Ah, I feel slightly silly now, I didn't read that before I filled it in, I thought it was one of their own surveys like they had a few months ago.

Bahahaha customer satisfaction. It doesn't even apply to Dublin Bus!

clearly it is, how could it not be?

Compared to everyone who uses it to commute every day driving a car instead?

having looked at the survey the question is different anyway. Of course it has less of an impact than lots and lots of cars but it still has an impact none the less.

A 9.4 litre diesel engine generates quite an amount of air pollution.

This is the question I was hoping to see and it's there in Section 5 Customer Care.....

It is easy to sort out problems or complaints

To which I ticked Disagreee Strongly, otherwise I am a relative happy customer of DB - Travel 90 cards and Real-Time info on my mobile make a major difference to getting around efficiently and with the minimum of waiting at stops.

Unfortunately your (and my) selection of a small number of specific areas such as this will look invisible due to the people who just mow through the survey putting "strongly disagree" to everything.

As a daily commuter I generally find the service to be good - better than a number of UK towns/cities I've lived in, though not as good as London (which gets more subsidy and is better regulated).

Outside Dublin, the service is not as good as similar areas in the UK, which have more established private operators and a well-developed rural network (bigger population, so not comparing oranges with oranges really).

How do they get so little power out of such a gigantic engine?, even the yanks manage better...

Without a comment box and a way to leave specific messages, the survey is pointless. :(

Indeed. When you're cycling behind one and it farts black smoke in your face, you realise this more than ever.

Far less than that produced by 50 1-2 litre petrol and diesel engines.

Not necessarily. A diesel engine of that size will emit huge quantities of particulate matter. PM is the primary source of air pollution in urban areas, along with NOx. Most petrol engines don't emit any particulate matter at all (only direct injection models do, but they're a tiny minority), and NOx emissions from petrol engines is a fraction of what diesels produce.

Buses and trucks are not subject to the same standards as passenger cars and ironically can legally emit limitless pollution in theory, as the limits are only linked to power output. With cars the limits are based on grams per km travelled.

There are many positive things about getting the (diesel) bus, but air quality is not one of them.

will it make a difference? no of course not. they will still be late, infrequent, over priced... not having a comment box means they really dont give a sh1t.. they just want to look like they do.

another thing that really annoys me is the bus drivers seem to have no clue about how much fares are... i've been told a rake of varying prices for the exact same route. i always say what i was charged last time and get this - "1.65 please" "no sorry love, its 2.15." next time "2.15 please" "no, its 1.90"

    BRILLIANT.
