    Hi,

Can anyone recommend any nice hotels in Amsterdam that are close to the city center but not to noisy. I am bringing my 76 year old mother so as much as we will be walking around I don't want a hotel that is miles from everything or is in to noisy an area for sleeping.

    Thanks
    LL

Stayed here last year, quite central, trams stop about 50 metres.

My wife and I stayed in the Convent hotel a few years ago, really nice hotel and quite central, it's about two blocks away from Dam square and a 5-10 minute walk from the central train station. If I was going back to Amsterdam I'd be staying there again.

4.3kWp South facing PV System. South Dublin

A bit more information here for you..http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=108317923316902772423.00000111df0a9e81614f7
Click on the link and zoom in to where you see the network of canals by where Amsterdam is written. Look for Rembrantsplein, the Eden hotel is marked on the map, trams 9 & 14.

Myself and the girlfriend stayed in
    Double Tree Hilton hotel
a few weeks back its right beside central station and about 10 mins walk from Dam Square.
    Was perfect and very quiet
Just make sure you book a city view 3rd floor room as there is a Lounge bar on the top floor.
