Unable to act as poll clerk for referendum

Folks, apologies if I am in the wrong area here but could somebody settle an argument for me..If a poll clerk is unable, due to illness, on the day of the referendum does he/she then lose their post forever? have heard that this happens but nobody is able to confirm it yet. Thanks

Like everything there are exceptions
And if you're very experienced and know the officer in charge well you may get selected

But from the few I know who have done this work then yes, if you miss it then you're off the list.
You are free to apply again, you are not gone forever but you're competing with every new person for the work

Illness can't be avoided but I know a few who take annual leave from their jobs to do the work.
Long hours, money is fine and it's a change, a break in your routine

Depends who you are stuck with for the day, I was a Presiding Officer once and my clerk was a complete retard with no social skills
