Good headroom high seats but not 4x4

Looking for any make or model, but it must have two characteristics -
    1. Good headroom for the driver
    2. A reasonable hight to get into, i.e. when getting that I don't have to sit too low - bad back and can't bend too easily.

Preferably it should be a "normal" car - not 4x4, SUV (whatever that stands for!) or such and a small sized car, 3 door fine, engine probably max. 1300 cc.

I am not a car enthusiast but use it to do a job - get me from A to B without problems. Also, I wouldn't know one make from another (unless I can see the emblem or read the name) let alone the model.

    Any thoughts?

A new-ish Toyota Yaris comes close to fitting the bill. Tall enough, not that small inside, small engine.

Also look at something like an Opel Agila - not the most attractive cars out there, but has a high driving position, small engine, and headroom.

The Volkswagen golf plus is probably your best bet. Not too sure weather its new or used or looking for or what the budget is. But here is a link to a 1.2l petrol one. Its also available in 1.4l petrol. Think 1.6l is the smallest diesel you can get

Another option is a kia venga. Not too many of them around though

Best choice for your needs is Toyota Yaris. Just pick one in your budget.

There are other models fits bill but they are not as good as Yaris for different reasons

    - Renault Clio 2006+
    - Nissan Micra 2003+
    - Daihatsu Sirion 2005+
    - Suzuki Wagon
    - Suzuki Ignis
    - Suzuki SX4(1500 cc Engine)

This is about the most common question in the Honest John's motoring column in the Torygraph on Saturday. Trouble is I suspect most of the models aren't available here. Top of the list is Yaris, Honda Jazz and Ford C-max.

If you want super cheap and super reliable then you can't beat the Yaris.

Though you can beat it at everything else...

I think the FIAT Panda also has quite high seats - they seem to be super value for money too.

Nissan Juke maybe? Its a bit bigger that a 1.3 (I think the minimum is 1.5) but would have a good ride height, also has above average head room in the front at least, but slopes to the back so none really for rear seats!
Only problems I see is that its a Semi-SUV so it mightn't be what you want and the styling wouldn't be to everyone's taste but have a look anyway and see if it would fit the bill.

    Thanks, folks.

Just been reading some reviews (now that I have something to go on), it seems that the Suzuki Ignis is the only one that is mentioned to have a good seat height.

I have difficulty getting "down" into a car.

The last car I had was a Ford Ecosport - google that one! - But it was more like a 4x4; only available in South America, I think - but typical Ford - Fixing Or Repairing Daily! Used it for 3 years and sold it for abut 1,500 euros less than I paid - such is the high price for second hand cars in Argentina!

Fords here are very reliable cars.

The Yaris has fairly high seats. Its almost like sitting on a chair in a yaris. Although I'm not really sure how high a seat you want in a car...
Haven't sat much in a Panda to tell how good the seats are in it but they're fairly high too. You could always head over to some car dealer and check em out and see what you find comfortable.

What's your budget by the way?

Also, it might be worth being a bit more flexible on the engine size. The little extra cost in tax and fuel might end up being a very small percentage of the overall cost.

Nissan note. Horrible little things but fit the bill i think. I also have a dodgy back and drove one briefly and it was pretty comfy.
