Hi guys,

Just a quick question.. I have been asked to sign a summer contract at work, if I want to take it and it requires me to work for the months of July and August.

I want to take the contract but there is one small problem, I am going to Canada for the year and wanted to actually leave Ireland mid-August.

I obviously need the job for the money to support myself in Canada but I don't know what to do.. if I take the job and want to leave half way through August, what happens, with regards to my contract?

You sign the contract and you give notice as it says in the contract. The contract is there to protect you, not them. There will be a notice period for both of you in the contract. Make sure you stick to it, otherwise you're fine.
